HYBRID Series

The lockdowns devastated global rave culture. But the restrictions also catalysed something new: virtual reality clubbing. Amidst this restriction and innovation, I co-founded Vague Labs; an experiential collective who aimed to keep rave culture alive while it was illegal to go outside. After securing a A$50,000 grant from Creative Victoria, we ran HYBRID vol. 1 & vol. 2 - the world's first hybrid-reality events.

At the HYBRID volumes, simultaneous parties were held in two 'mirror worlds' - the first was a physical warehouse space, and the second was an identical virtual reality 3D-mapped replica. The realms were connected by a massive LED 'window' that allowed VR ravers to see/interact with IRL ravers, and vice versa.
